My friend Greg, an amazing photographer who works for the Associated Press, was out of town during a charity event shoot and passed it on to me. De Paul Treatment Centers put on a wonderful fundraiser golf tournament out at the beautiful Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in Hillsboro, Oregon. I was elated to take part, especially knowing the nature of the shoot.
De Paul Treatment Centers is a wonderful organization that has been treating drug and alcohol addictions for 30 years. Because I have a close, long-term connection with many homeless people who have ended up on the streets due to these addictions, I felt privileged to work with such a group and was happy to offer them a special charity event deal.
About 200 golfers were on the course. It was amazing to see all the support for the charity. In response, De Paul treated them well with boxed lunches and a gorgeous dinner banquet with salmon, fresh fruit and plenty of sides.
Not to mention Tiffany, my golf cart chauffeur, was a delight… a wild driver and so much fun! Here’s a picture of her (it’s my favorite)…
It had been raining the day before, but the sky opened up for us and provided a beautiful day with fluffy clouds and blue sky. This was a great group of people to work with. Everyone was laid back, smiling and having a great time. Thanks to De Paul, Kathleen, and to the wonderful good spirits of all the players. I had a great time and was reminded as to why I love my career as a Portland event photographer.
