Establishing myself as a go-to destination wedding photographer is becoming a reality. Last week I was flown to Cabo San Lucas on less than a week’s notice to cover for a colleague who had a family crisis. I was so happy to be able to help out in such a stressful situation. Seeming turmoil quickly subsided as the wedding day ran like clockwork… smooth, on time and in order. The couple was gorgeous, the exotic seaside a dream, and we had an incredible time around their resort playing with arched walkways, bright natural lighting, and the incredible saturated colors of Mexico.
The day after the wedding, the couple and I caught a boat across the bay to Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) for a sensual Trash the Dress shoot. The couple, decked out in their wedding attire, received plenty of attention from onlookers as they cheered and waved from boats passing by. Trash the Dress shoots are becoming increasingly popular as brides decide to claim another occasion to wear their wedding dress, this time for more fun, rather than formal, photos. We got some pre-shots around the cliff-like rocks and caves before the couple ran into the ocean and rolled around in the sand. It was a beautiful, romantic shoot as the warm rays of sun sank behind the hills.
Now that I’ve experienced shooting a wedding in Mexico, I’m eager to head back. This photographer is officially open to Mexico destination weddings!
