Children Photography Portland | A Costume Session in Sellwood Field
William & Oliver. The Bahrenburg Boys. Not only was our children’s portrait session outside in Oaks Bottom grassy field Wetlands in Sellwood a super fun late summer’s-eve cute-fest… But also enlightening. A realization of how my children’s photo sessions may evolve in the near future. After a session with these two, I’ve decided I may need to make costumes mandatory for ALL children’s photo sessions. Can you blame me?
Frankly, it brings me the most quality of happiness when I get to see kids being kids. I’ve worked with kids a lot in my life and have seen it all… the little boy who wanted to wear pink because it’s his favorite color… the little girl who wanted to be a firefighter for Christmas… the little girl who wanted a train painted on her piggy bank, but her mom made her get a butterfly.
I’m a fan of letting kids live it up and be who they are. And let’s face it… kids love dress up! My mom let me wear my pants backwards as a little kid, because I liked the pockets in the front. And I’ve decided that when I take my niece out to buy a new outfit, she’ll pick out whatever she wants… and I’m hoping it’s a ninja costume.
These two boys have the best parents ever. They got to wear their favorite outfits. And there’s nothing cuter than that little pirate wearing Lederhosen. This is truly a photography session that those kids and parents will remember forever.
Fall is a perfect time of year for children’s portraits right here in Portland, Oregon. Bring your kids and their favorite costumes!
