Hi! Photographer Briena Sash here, creator of Sash Photography. I’m here to empower you with tricks and tips to help you get headshots you love, that will intrigue and captivate your viewers.

I’ve received a lot of compliments over the years about my headshots. People telling me they see something different about the people in my portraits… something deeper. They feel like they actually know the person in the picture, or can “see who they truly are”.

The skill of capturing a person’s personality, or a certain essence about them, is really in the art of connecting with that person… helping them to feel relaxed, and drawing out genuine emotion from them.

Arm Yourself Before Going To Your Headshot Session

The skill of capturing a person’s personality, or a certain essence about them, is really in the art of connecting with that person… helping them to feel relaxed, and drawing out genuine emotion from them.

Whether the photographer you hire has this skill or not, there are certain things I can teach you, so that you go into your headshot session armed with the tricks I use to guide each of my clients through their time in front of my camera.

These tricks will help empower you to work with your photographer and guide your session toward producing successful results… to getting headshots that you love and that will catch the eye of your viewers.

You Are Your Brand

The Baby Boomer generation may have looked at the product, its merits, and how much it cost. The next generation is looking at something different. They are more interested in buying into you as a brand. They are interested in buying you along with the product. – Huffington Post

Whether or not you run your business primarily online, chances are a great percentage of your potential clients are going to find you there first, before having any other potential interaction with you.

These days, especially as an solopreneur or a small business owner, you are your brand. You need to have an online presence, and it better be a good one.

A successful online presence is all about building trust among your viewers. And your headshot or profile picture plays a massive part in this. Your potential clients want to see you and discern whether you’re someone they can connect with and trust. This isn’t a beauty pageant and you don’t have to be a big presence like Oprah Winfrey… but you DO need to project a certain type of genuine energy.

Your viewers need to get a certain sense for your personality and who you are. And the single most important shot you have at making an impression… is through your headshot.
